The Committee determines the activities and programmes of EGPA.

It is comprised of the President of EGPA, ten members and the Director General of IIAS, ex officio.

The members of the Committee are selected individually and do not represent any given institution or particular country.

Edoardo Ongaro is professor of Public Management at the Open University in London. Previously, he was international public services management at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK. and has held positions at SDA Bocconi School of Management and Bocconi University, where he still serves as senior visiting professor of management of international and supranational organizations.

Since September 2013 he is the President of EGPA; he has served in the Steering Committee of EGPA since 2009. He was reelected for a second term (2016-2019) as EGPA President in August 2016 in Utrecht (The Netherlands).

During the period 2006-09 he has been one of the Chairs of the Permanent Study Group on Intergovernmental Relations, and over 2010-13 he has been a Chair of the Permanent Study Group on EU Administration and Multi-Level Governance.

He is Editor-in-chief (appointed) of the journal Public Policy and Administration. He has served in various academic and expert committees and has contributed to numerous international research projects.

He has published extensively on the topic of administrative reforms at the national and European level. Publications include Public Management Reform and Modernization: Trajectories of Administrative Change in Italy, France, Greece, Portugal and Spain (2009, Edward Elgar); also published with Elgar are: Governance and Intergovernmental Relations in the European Union and the United States: Theoretical perspectives, 2010, and Policy, Performance and Management in Governance and Intergovernmental Relations: Transatlantic Perspectives, 2011 (both co-edited with Marc Holzer, Andrew Massey and Ellen Wayenberg). He is currently working at a book (co-authored with Ewan Ferlie) entitled strategic Management in Public Service Organisations (forthcoming, Routledge) and at an edited book entitled Multi-Level Governance: The Missing Linkages (forthcoming, Emerald).

Karen Johnston has extensive academic and research experience having worked in leading universities in South Africa, USA and UK. In addition to her academic career she has worked with and for public sector and civil society organisations to improve public service delivery. She has also worked for a donor organisation to promote democratic development and service delivery on an international scale. Professor Johnston has a strong research publication record in the areas of public sector management and leadership, public-private-voluntary sector governance, and gender equality. She has led and been involved in numerous research projects in these research areas. Professor Johnston was the editor for the journal Public Policy and Administration and now serves on a number of editorial boards. She also holds executive positions on boards of the International Research Society for Public Management and the European Group for Public Administration.

Jean-Michel is the deputy director of Sciences Po Toulouse.

Professor in Political Science, he headed for five years, the Laboratory of Political Social Sciences ( LaSSP EA- No. 4175), and still drives Axis 1.

Prof. Wim van de Donk PhD (1962) holds a Masters Degree in Political Science and Administrative Sciences from the Radboud University in Nijmegen. He was appointed as the King’s Commissioner in the Province of Noord-Brabant from October 1st 2009. He also is professor at Tilburg University.

Before he was nominated as the Queens Commissioner he served as Chairman of the Scientific Council for Government Policy (www.wrr.nl) and as a professor in the Tilburg School for Politics and Public Administration, Faculty of Law, Tilburg University. He holds a PhD from Tilburg University (1997, cum laude) and earlier on served in the Dutch Ministry of Justice and the Expertise Centre for Government Informatics in The Hague.
 
He served as chairman/member of several advisory commitees: good governance of charities (2007); the audit commitee of the Dutch Public Broadcast (2005); the core-values of the constitutional state (2008); the future of Dutch drugs policy (2009); the council for the social sciences of the Dutch Royal Academy of Science. He was chairman/member of the Board of the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg and of an institution for vocational training in Tilburg. He was president of the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA Brussels) from September 2010 until September 2013.
